As part of the PBIS initiative in the district, students in the Family and Consumer Sciences class have the opportunity to earn "Free Foods Labs". The system works as follows: For each class where students collectively demonstrate positive behavior through classwork, class participation, etcetera, they have the opportunity to earn a sticker. For every 4 stickers that students earn, they earn a Free Foods Lab. The students are surveyed about what they want to make for their lab and the teacher then makes the final decision, based on time and students' ability. This is a non-graded lab where students get to have fun and learn a new recipe! Students take FULL control over the lab and are able to pick their own groups and work together to delegate the tasks that need to be completed.
Having a good time adding the flour to the mixture! We divided the tasks among the group so we all got to do something different!
